Tucked away on the English and Welsh borders, Shropshire has been surprising visitors for years. Indeed ever since those clever Romans discovered Shropshire as an ideal place to rest and recuperate

Shropshire is one of the least crowded and most peaceful areas of England. Now one of the few remaining rural idylls, it has a long history of wild border conflicts which have left a legacy of atmospheric hill forts, earthworks and castles.

As visitors, pilgrims and honoured guests to Shropshire you’ll need to know all the best places to visit and interesting things to do while you’re here. Indeed as many before you have already discovered, Shropshire’s attractions are as diverse as the very county itself.

Shropshire is served by the Virgin train service which runs twice daily from Shrewsbury to Euston which of course stops at the Wellington train station.
